TRINITY CHIROPRACTIC & NATURAL HAELTH CENTRE

presents:

          THERMAL IMAGING

We would like to inform you that for the next few months we will have Thermal Imaging being delivered in our clinic by a qualified Doctor from the UK.

The next one will be taking place on:

Saturday 3th of September from 10 o'clock-2pm.

What is thermal imaging (otherwise called thermography)?

Thermography is the use of a special camera and computer software that can detect minute changes in skin temperature to help diagnose many illnesses and conditions. The camera takes pictures just like a normal camera, but uses a special detector for temperature. The technology is referred to as Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI).

Many studies have been done on the use of thermography in medicine and its use is now well validated.

We now have such a machine that is portable and available for breast and whole body thermal imaging in our clinic. The device comes from the UK and our thermographer, Dr Jeffrey McTavish takes the images on his new machine. This is one of only two machines in Ireland. It is typical of any new technology- that it is available only in private clinics and we are lucky to have one of the first such machines in Ireland.

So far we have helped patients to detect and treat conditions that were, prior to the scan chronic and unresolving. The thermal imaging device has allowed us to find sources of pain and inflammation that were not even known by the patient or their doctor! It has also been used to screen many females for breast health, which you can read more about below.

BREAST THERMOGRAPHY

Effectiveness of a noninvasive digital infrared thermal imaging system in the detection of breast cancer

·        The best researched use of thermal imaging to date has been in breast cancer detection. For three decades, over 250,000 women have been studied, some of them for up 12 years.’’

·        A suspicious finding via thermography is the single most important indicator of high risk for breast cancer – it is eight times more indicative than a first order family history of the disease.

·        A consistently abnormal thermogram translates to a 22 times higher risk of developing breast cancer.

·        An over 60 percent increased survival rate is attained when thermography is used with other breast health monitoring methods (self-exam, physician visits, and mammography).

·        An astounding 95 percent of early stage breast cancers are diagnosed when thermography is used in a multi-modal approach to detection and treatment.

So if you have a question about your health or the health of a loved one that is not resolving, then ask about a thermal imaging scan, your Doctor will advise you on the benefits of having a scan and may recommend you to have one.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR- SARAH LLOYD

Sarah Lloyd moved from the Bournemouth to Dublin in 2004. She has always had an interest in health and fitness and has taken part in several of the Adidas race series, fun runs and competed in the Dublin marathon. Due to repeated lower back problems from her job that worsened with the running she was advised to make her ’core’ stronger as this would help her, so she tried Pilates and found it amazing! Hardly suffering at all anymore she wanted to learn more about the body and how it worked, since then she has qualified in Neuromuscular Therapy and Orthopaedic Sports Massage at the NTC in Dublin and also in Pilates Matwork with the Pilates Institute Ireland to help her clients strengthen their problem areas to recover and reduce their risk of injury. She is passionate about teaching Pilates and is excited to be joining the clinic, She wants to help others as it has helped her become free of the circle of pain she was in.
